Check your figures with GOV.UK and HMRC

Before paying any voluntary contributions, check your official position:

Check your State Pension forecast on GOV.UK.
Check your National Insurance record for gaps.
Contact HMRC or the Future Pension Centre to confirm that a specific year will add to your pension before you pay.

Lost track of an old pension?

The Pension Tracing Service on GOV.UK is free. You do not need to pay a company to find a lost workplace or personal pension.

Investment and pension partners: capital at risk

If we link to an investment, ISA or private pension provider, remember that your capital is at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you put in. Past performance is not a reliable guide to future returns. Tax and pension rules can change, and their effect depends on your circumstances. You usually cannot take money from a private pension until the minimum pension age. Check a firm is on the FCA Register before dealing with it.
